I want to encourage someone who is feeling like quitting, feeling as if God no longer thinks about him/her. Our God loves us so much that He Has engraved our name on His palm. Isaiah49:16, See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.
You know, you may be experiencing a chain of failure, consistence of disappointments and sometimes when you are almost at the finishing line you experience a puncture, and Success is failure turned inside out. So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit, it’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit.
Forget the bad and disappointing things that have happened in the past, God is doing a new thing.
Isaiah43:19, See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
It gets hard… do not quit! You get frustrated… do not quit! You want to quit… DO NOT QUIT!
In my life I have gone through fire, brimstones, and ugly storms of life and severally contemplated to kill myself. I have been a street boy, we have gone for days without food at home, I have been kidnapped, I have been sodomized, I have been arrested for no reason, I had to work(do mjengo) to raise my high school fees, I have tasted poverty, shame, disgrace, disappointments, dissolutions and even greeting neighbors and they assume my presence. I write and talk about courage, faith and hope not because I was born and anointed with it but because I know fear, pain, distress and I have defeated it. The greatest man on earth is the one who has conquered himself.
I went through what seemed like endless amounts of frustration and struggle and the most important thing I had to do was tell myself ‘Do not quit!’
One thing I learn’t is self discovery. When I discovered and realized what is within me and the will of God, my life has never been the same again.
“On the path of self-realization, there are only two mistakes a seeker can make. One: Not treading the path at all and two: not going all the way.” Om Swami
I have endured, persisted, persevered through even went through employment life to be self employed which again wasn’t an easy way. When you choose to persevere with discipline, with the same enthusiasm you had at the beginning, when you continue to persist till you reach your goal, your chances of success go up significantly. It is not possible to be persistent without being patient. Patience feeds persistence and it boosts your determination. Patience is reminding yourself that you must continue without complaining till you are fully satisfied with the outcome.
I was working with an International Charity organization in a senior position, ‘good salary’, heading a whole department and with a lot of staff under me, raising more than 30 million Kenya shillings in a year and a good job security but I had a dream of being self employed and the dream, the goal, the vision was too big that nothing could stop me from pursuing it even the promise of a double salary by the board of directors. I could never afford to quit pursuing my dreams. Whenever you feel like quitting, ask yourself if you really want to quit midway. Human mind has this amazing ability to mold itself. If you say “I can’t do it,” it shuts down itself. When you ask “How can I do it?” it gets into action and comes up with answers enabling you to discover a solution. My question was always, “How do I shift to start my own ventures and how will I survive?”
But, going a step at a time made it very easy and it’s one of the best decision that I ever made. Through the step I took and now a prolific Leadership, Motivation and Entrepreneurship speaker being sort out engaged in a lot of forums. I have always stressed the importance of setting small goals to attain bigger ones. It is easier to train your mind by vowing to do something for a shorter period so it may allow you to honor lifelong commitments. For example, you are far more likely to keep your vow if you resolve to not smoke for the next one day as opposed to never smoking for the rest of your life. Each time you stick to your word, you gain inner strength and you get a step closer to taming your mind. Subsequently, executing bigger plans, attaining larger goals becomes easier.
To experience the joy, go right till the end. Whatever it is that you do, do not quit till you are satisfied. Keep going one step at a time, keep crossing one hurdle at a time. Just like traveling at night, you only see a few meters in front with the headlights on but that is enough to travel a journey of several thousand miles, similarly, each step takes you further, closer towards your destination.
If you fear God and trust Him, He will fulfill your heart desires.
Proverbs10:24, What the wicked dread will overtake them; what the righteous desire will be granted.
If your ways are right with God, He will always do anything that is worth and of good report to you regardless of how you view it at the beginning. Sometimes you see things not happening as you expected and sometimes you will feel like God is away from you, doesn’t care, but my friend it is His will to prosper you. Your part is to walk with God, obey his commands and be blameless and after doing this now focus on your dreams and visions and he will fulfill them.
Ecclesiastes 12:13, Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind.
Jeremiah29:11, I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for.
Jeremial32:41, I will find joy doing good for them and will faithfully and wholeheartedly replant them in this land.
Is this you? Have you ever questioned your own existence because the potential of your dream no longer excited you but haunted you? God puts dreams in us and expects us to trust Him to fulfill that dream and He passionately does it for His glory.
People who encourage you to quit or ridicule you for pursuing a dream are living in a bitter state because they quit and desire to contaminate others. Don’t listen to the negative talks from the pessimists, they don’t hold your destiny and they are just distracters. Quitting is a mental state which overwhelms us. To prevent this continue to keep your mind focused on the end result. When you possess your mind with images of results to come it will become so real that it’s impossible to separate yourself from it.

I know sometimes you feel like giving up. Every new day there’s seems to be no change in your life. All the troubles of your heart and worries keep on worsening. You wonder why everything is happening to you. You keep on asking yourself why you’re not lucky like other people. You keep on praying to God but so far He hasn’t answered your prayers. Now you have started losing hope. You now think that maybe you were meant to be like that or maybe somebody cursed you. But I tell you what my friend? You weren’t meant to be like that and you weren’t cursed. God is silent but He watches you day and night. He listens to your prayers and He has something special for you. Just stay strong, focused, and hardworking and keep praying to God. Bear it in your minds that you’re not alone in that hard situation, we are all in the same boat of waiting patiently. So don’t give up my dear friend. Your time is coming soon.
One day in a training that we were conducting at HPSS in Embakasi barracks, I was having a chat with a Rwandese police officer and he told me that he wishes to have a big body like mine, later in the evening while working out in the gym, the instructor cautioned me about my BMI which was far much high than accepted. Now, I wondered, some few years ago I was wishing for a big body and the desire was fulfilled to an extent that somebody was admiring the outcome but the problem is it’s abundantly more than I wished. When God will say yes to your prayer, the outcome will be exceedingly, abundantly, above more than you have ever wished or asked for.
It’s patience that brings forth the promise. Abraham and Sarah waited a long time for that child and at God’s appointed time, an angel was sent to bring the good news to them.
My friend, I want to tell you that God’s delay is not God’s denial.
It’s up to you and I to press through with patience. Patience is a virtue. Patience is power.
Just tell God, “Lord don’t let me let go of my promise and dreams because I’m tired of waiting on my promise. I will be waiting on you and not give up”
The time while you’re waiting is a time of learning, being strengthened and growing in faith. God will help us grow and mature this year and He will glorify Himself through our needs. He hears us when we call.
Often we wonder why something is taking so long, we get discouraged and think it’ll never happen.
The moment God put the dream in you He put a set time for its fulfillment. When you understand this you won’t get discouraged. You know the set time is the right time. Don’t listen to the lies that it’s never going to happen. As long as you keep believing it will happen, you know the promise is for you but when you look at the natural it seems it’ll never happen. You may wonder when your husband, Dad or brother will be born again, but, God has already set a time for each of your family members to come to Him.
In your future there is a set time for the fulfillment of your dreams;
Habakkuk 2:3 “For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come to pass.” [NKJV]
It will not be one second late, We don’t have to live frustrated because it’s not happening on our time table, You don’t have to worry that you are too old, Maybe you’re single but the person God picked out for you won’t be one second late.
When is the set time? The right time, the time best for you. We want it quick, fast and right now. Often we’re not prepared but as we wait with the right attitude God is able to do a work in us. The other person may not be ready. If you were to meet right now it wouldn’t work out.
When the lies tell you it will never happen, don’t believe them. Just say, “ I may not see a way but I know God has a way, God gave me the dream and He established a set time for it, I will wait earnestly for it in faith, It won’t be late at all, It will happen at the exact right time.”
Your set time could be this week or tomorrow morning.
In life we all have to wait, It’s through faith and patience that we inherit the promises. Wait with expectancy.
Just declare,” I won’t live upset and frustrated because God has already ordained it, It could happen today, I know there are set times in my future.”
What if I get my hopes up every day and it doesn’t happen; then I go to bed disappointed?
God is working behind the scenes in our lives whether we realize it or not, He is aligning up things for us, You may not see it but in a split second it’s going to come together. When it’s your due season no person can stop it.
The most difficult time is right before the victory, You can’t see anything good when you look up ahead, You’re tired and ready to give up? Don’t quit a whisper away to your destiny, you’ve come too far to stop now! Keep on keeping on! The Lord has heard your prayers, all these time that you have been crying , you have been in stress leading to depression, He was busy working and moulding the best things for you and now your season has come. Start rejoicing, start praising, wow, wow, start dancing and position yourself to receive exceedingly, abundantly, above and beyond what you ever desired or asked for because He is coming to surprise you and prove to the nation that all this time He still loved you and had good plans for you. It’s your time! It’s your season!!!!
2Chronicles20:17, You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you…Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.'”
Philipians1:6, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Psalms37:4, Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Deutronomy31:6, Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
So my message to you is this. Just don’t quit! Keep on going. Even when it looks like nothing is ever going to work for you, DO NOT QUIT!
I promise you, it’s worth it my friend. You must hold on, you must keep moving, keep pressing, keep rowing and DO NOT QUIT!
