This year 2021 my wife and I CELEBRATED our 7th wedding anniversary, we have so far mentored and become best couples to several couples. Unfortunately, his observation make sense! Have you noticed that majority of young people getting married today are usually OVERTAKEN by BUTTERFLIES-LIKE feelings, CONSUMED with the urge to go for the next EXCITING date, and are RUSHING through PREMARITAL classes JUST to fulfill the REQUIREMENT of the church? Have you noted the kind of energy being invested in PREPARING for WEDDING day rather preparing for MARRIAGE?Have you notice the UNWILLINGNESS to address the SERIOUS ISSUES that would potentially BUILD or DESTROY their marriages if not handled well? It is true that “UNRESOLVED conflicts, UNMET needs, UNREALISTIC expectations, UNHEALTHY communication and UNDEFINED roles and responsibilities” are among the many REASONS why MARITAL relationships FAIL. Yet any helpful premarital classes addresses these issues!. May be BEFORE you say “I DO”, consider taking SERIOUSLY the need to “prepare for marriage NOT a wedding!” And if your marriage is about to COLLAPSE, consider INTERROGATING whether there are “UNRESOLVED conflicts, UNMET needs, UNREALISTIC expectations, UNHEALTHY communication and UNDEFINED roles and responsibilities” and seek God’s help through PRAYER and open up to wise counselors for godly wise counsel. And if your MARRIAGE has already COLLAPSED beyond repair, may the LORD God give you the GRACE to RISE up and SOLDIER on towards the ultimate GOAL of life and to remain FAITHFUL to Him who keeps COVENANTS!
